The Education Program

Within our education program, we hope to establish a warm and happy environment for your child where he/she is able to interact with other children and adults.  There will be many activities, which provide your child with the opportunity to learn through exploration, discovery and play, as this promotes learning at this stage. Art, music and movement, literacy and numeracy, and long periods of uninterrupted play provide many opportunities for learning.

We implement the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) and Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guideline (QKLG) as our curriculum frameworks. The principles and practices of the EYLF guide staff in their decision making relevant to the broader service approach and the fundamental characteristics of Belonging, Being and Becoming.  The QKLG is used by staff on a daily basis in supporting the children to explore their interests and engage in ways to extend their learning across the five learning and development areas.

More information regarding the how the EYLF Aligns to the QKLG can be found at; www.qcaa.qld.edu.au/kindergarten/curriculum/qklg/purpose/alignment-eylf-qklg

Copies of both of these documents are available, which you are welcome to read.

The QKLG curriculum is divided into five shared understandings:
·   Children have a strong sense of identity
·   Children are connected with and contribute to their world
·   Children have a strong sense of wellbeing
·   Children are confident and involved learners
·   Children are effective communicators

Lady Gowrie Kindergartens recognise the value and richness of play as a catalyst for children's learning and their ongoing engagement in meaningful experiences.  When children play they approach experiences with interest, ownership, empowerment, and possibility.
